Her performance against Elise Mertens was particularly impressive, with the Briton wrapping up the 6-1, 6-2 win with ease. She will face Maria Sakkari next, who should provide a stern test for her. The two have faced each other once before, in the semifinals of the 2021 US Open, where the 21-year-old won en route to clinching the title.

The youngster remains the only British woman to win a major singles title since Virginia Wade and will be hoping to end the title drought for British women at SW19 this fortnight.
