Emma Raducanu has had a topsy-turvy 2024 season. However, the British star is relishing the opportunity to be back on the court again after being sidelined due to injury since September. She has touched down in Malaga for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals and is excited to represent Great Britain at the tournament.
Raducanu helped the British team in the qualifying round earlier this year. The qualifier was the 22-year-old’s first tie at the Billie Jean King Cup in two years, and despite her absence, she rose to the challenge, producing two of the best performances of the season. She beat Caroline Garcia 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 before a three-set victory over Diane Parry.
The British star has failed to be consistent this season and is still waiting on her first title of the season. She suffered an injury during her quarterfinal match against Daria Kasatkina at the Korean Open and was forced to retire after losing the first set. The former US Open champion did announce she was going to compete at the Hong Kong Open, but later withdrew from the event.
Now, she will be back on the court for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Malaga. During Great Britain’s press conference, Raducanu revealed that she was extremely happy with her performance in the qualifiers and is looking forward to the week ahead.

Emma Raducanu reveals her goal for the 2025 season following discussions with a new fitness coach
Emma Raducanu has made strides this year, lifting her ranking from No. 301 in January to No. 58. But her season has been plagued with injuries that saw her miss several tournaments. The Brit most recently sprained her foot ligament, which forced her not to compete in three tournaments during the Asian swing.
Recently, it was revealed that she has been in discussions over hiring Maria Sharapova’s former fitness coach Yukata Nakamura. She confirmed the report during the aforementioned press conference, revealing her goal for next year.
Raducanu skipped several tournaments this season, including the French Open, as she didn’t want to compete in the qualifying rounds due to her ranking. She learned the hard lesson after an early exit at the US Open. However, injury cut short her WTA Tour.
