Emma Raducanu‘s stalker was given a 5-year restraining order after he was found guilty of stalking Raducanu and trespassing her property. Amrit Mogar, 35, who reportedly trekked for 23 miles to the Brit’s home and stole her father’s shoe, was also sentenced to 18-month community service order that includes 200 hours of unpaid work.

The man reportedly visited Radunau’s house three times and left a creepy note saying “nothing to say but you deserve love” and included a hand-drawing of a map showing he traveled 23 miles to leave the note. Raducanu also gave a statement on her ordeal in court and said she was creeped out by the incident and is now feeling apprehensive ‘to go out.’

“Since all this has happened I have felt creeped out. I feel very apprehensive if I go out, especially if I am on my own. Because of this, I feel like my freedom has been taken away from me. I am constantly looking over my shoulder. I feel on edge and worried this could happen again. I don’t feel safe in my own home, which is where I should feel safest,” Raducanu said in her court statement.

Injury woes continue for Raducanu

Raducanu’s on-court woes continue as well, she has only won 5 matches since her fairytale win in Flushing Meadows last year. Her 2022 season has also been sub-par so far, she was knocked out in the opening round of the WTA Sydney International and then suffered a shock defeat to Danka Kovinic in the second round of the Australian Open. The Brit teenager was struggling with blisters during her second-round exit, which hampered her ability to hit a forehand and she was only able to fit forehand slices in for the majority of the match.

Raducanu then took a brief break and then returned as the top seed for the WTA 250 tournament in Guadalajara. But she had to retire with a hip injury during her opening round clash against Daria Saville, with the scoreline standing 5-7 7-6(4) 4-3. At 3 hours and 36 minutes, it was the longest WTA match of the season. And this took a toll on both players, Saville was battling leg cramps and Raducanu called a medical timeout and returned with a heavily taped left leg, in the decider. The 19-year-old couldn’t last long with her injury and after that she made the decision to retire at 4-3 in the final set.
