It’ll be a good match for me. Any match I can play against these top opponents. I’m loving it. It’s an opportunity to test my game and see where I’m at. We played twice before on clay. Let’s see on hard court. She’s achieved so much already. Going into it, I have nothing to lose. I’m just gonna swing. I’m gonna give it my best.

She met the 2021 US Open champion in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Stuttgart Open and beat her in straight sets. They then faced each other in the fourth round of the 2023 Indian Wells, where Swiatek again emerged as champion in straight sets. Their last meeting was in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Stuttgart Open, where for the first time, they played a tie-break.

The former World No.1 is a semifinalist in Melbourne, reaching the last four in 2022. But last year, it was in the third round the 23-year-old got knocked out after a three-set defeat to an unseeded Linda Noskova.
