Emma Raducanu has picked up her favorite player to win at the US Open. She picked Carlos Alcaraz‘s name, who will be bidding for his second title at Flushing Meadows, as he won it in 2022.

Alcaraz, who recently got knocked out by Gael Monfils in the third round of the Cincinnati Open, will be locking horns with Australia’s Li Tu to kick-start his campaign in the upcoming event in New York. Raducanu, on the other hand, will face home favorite Sofia Kenin in the first round.

The 21-year-old Brit has won the US Open as a qualifier in 2021 but since then, she failed to pick up her second title on the WTA Tour as she battled multiple injuries last year. During an interview with Tennis Channel, Raducanu was asked about the player who she thinks can win the US Open in men’s tennis.

The way last year has gone, I'll have to say… Carlos Alcaraz? He's really playing good tennis.

Raducanu played just one tournament on the North American hard-court swing following her withdrawal from the Paris Olympics. She participated at the Citi Open and made it to the quarterfinals where eventual winner Paula Badosa beat her in three sets. As she did not get the wild cards for the Canadian Open and Cincinnati Open, she decided to skip both and instead trained on the sidelines for about two weeks.

Emma Raducanu says tennis is like playing the piano

Emma Raducanu has struggled on the court since her US Open win, and she blamed it on her not staying true to herself. Raducanu feels after fame, she was playing a role and wasn’t enjoying her tennis much. She claimed her approach to tennis is different now as she has been expressing herself more freely, saying tennis is like playing a piano.

It's about our creativity on the court, how we construct the points, how we deal with different situations and setbacks - also what shots and geometry we can use on court. And it is more than just tennis. It's almost like playing the piano when we're on the court, it's how we express ourselves.
Emma Raducanu told Sky Sports

Raducanu has been performing consistently since the grass-court swing. She skipped the Roland Garros and prepared for Wimbledon, reaching the fourth round where New Zealand’s Lulu Sun eliminated her in three sets
