Emma Raducanu has stated that it took her only ten seconds to say yes when asked about partnering Andy Murray in the mixed doubles at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. She said that she was honored to be asked by the two-time Wimbledon champion to join hands and hopes to not let him down on the court.
In possibly the final Wimbledon appearance of his career, Murray has pulled out of the singles and will instead take part in the men’s doubles (alongside his brother Jamie Murray) and mixed doubles.

With Wimbledon expected to be the 37-year-old’s final tournament on the ATP tour, he is looking to end his stint on a high. With that in mind, Raducanu hopes to do everything in her capacity to ensure Murray can sign off on a high.
I want obviously to do well with him. I’m not playing to lose. I really don’t wanna let him down. That’s the one thing I don’t wanna do. I’m gonna be on my best form. We’re trying hard. I’ll probably be more nervous for that than the singles (smiling). I just wish him the best. Wimbledon is Andy Murray and Andy Murray is Wimbledon. I just want to see him do well.Emma Raducanu said at a Wimbledon press conference
Andy Murray explains why he chose Emma Raducanu as his doubles partner
While Emma Raducanu was honored to have been asked to pair with Andy Murray, the 37-year-old did not approach the 2021 US Open champion out of the blue. He gave it a lot of thought before asking her coach for this partnership.

Murray said that he was trying to be competitive at Wimbledon this year and thus decided to join forces with his compatriot.
I was chatting to my team and discussing mixed, so I messaged her coach and asked if he thought it might be something she’d be up for doing. He said it was worth asking, so I did...Firstly, we want to be competitive in the matches - and playing with another Brit was going to be something that would be nice. She is obviously one of the top British players and was at the top of the list.Andy Murray said (H/T: BBC)
While Raducanu does not have a lot of experience playing mixed doubles, Murray played alongside American great Serena Williams in the mixed doubles at Wimbledon 2019. He had termed it a “once-in-a-lifetime experience” and the pair reached the third round, where they lost in three sets to Bruno Soares and Nicole Melichar-Martinez.
