It is a known fact that many tennis players follow football and are excited when the teams they support are scheduled to play soon. The UEFA European Football Champions are in progress at the same time as Wimbledon and tennis players are having to make time to watch and cheer for their favorite teams in their own ways.

After his match yesterday, Carlos Alcaraz, an avid football follower, could not wait to check the score of the Spain vs. Germany quarterfinal, a match in which the Spaniards upset the home team 2-1. Today, the English football team is all set to take on Switzerland in the third quarterfinal and Emma Raducanu showed her support to them by sporting a white and blue jersey that had the ‘Three Lions’ emblem printed on it, for her practice session today.

The ‘Three Lions’ is a common symbol for sporting factions representing England and is recognized the world over for being the team logo for their football team. Known for her on-court outfits, the English tennis superstar delivered off-court as well with this iconic look as she managed to encourage her country while still preparing for her upcoming matches.

England finished at the top of their group in the group stages and are also the favorites to win the match.

Meanwhile, Raducanu prepares for the second week of Wimbledon after scoring three consecutive straight-sets victories in impressive fashion. In the fourth round, she faces qualifier Lulu Sun, who took out Australian Open finalist Qinwen Zheng in the first round.

Raducanu did not enter the Wimbledon Championships with any expectations surrounding her but she has quickly changed that as she has regained her best form to make it to the second week without dropping a set.

On the other hand, world no.1 Iga Swiatek was outplayed by Yulia Putintseva in their third round match that went to the third set. Swiatek lost 6-3, 1-6, 2-6, leaving Coco Gauff and Elena Rybakina as the only top five players left in the draw (Sabalenka was forced to withdraw before the tournament commenced).

This provides Raducanu with a great chance at winning her home Slam, becoming the first British woman to do so since Virginia Wade in 1977. She faces a qualifier, Lulu Sun, in the next round, winning which will take her to the quarterfinal stage.
