Emma Raducanu is a highly marketable player but if she doesn’t start winning tournaments, she may end up losing her endorsement deals according to sports finance expert Dr. Rob Wilson. Raducanu has won just one title, her first Major at the 2021 US Open.

That win meant brands approaching her to sign endorsement deals. The 22-year-old is the seventh highest-paid female athlete in 2024 despite not playing much as she earned $14 million from endorsements according to Sportico.

She endorses brands such as Porsche, Tiffany & Co., Dior, British Airways, Evian, and Vodafone. But Dr. Wilson thinks that to keep generating benefits and be a ‘relevant voice in the market’, Raducanu has to keep winning matches.

But if she doesn’t start winning games, if she doesn’t go deep into tournaments, she is going to really struggle to renegotiate or renew any of those commercial endorsements and the career could be over pretty much in its infancy, which would be a crying shame because she’s a hugely talented individual and hugely marketable as well.

Dr. Rob Wilson told OLBG

Recently there were rumors that Raducanu’s lack of trophy forced Porsche to take back the car it gifted her. But later both Porsche and Raducanu quashed the rumors.

Emma Raducanu is confident of becoming one of the best players

Emma Raducanu recently hired Maria Sharapova and Naomi Osaka‘s former fitness coach Yutaka Nakamura. Sharapova worked with Nakamura for eight years during which she reached the top of the rankings table twice and won two of her five Grand Slam titles.

Osaka also won two of her four Majors while working with the Japanese. Raducanu is confident that the collaboration with Nakamura would bring results in the future.

I think he is going to help me just really explore how far I can go, like, athletically. It’s a big strength of mine that I have nowhere near fulfilled. I think I can become one of the best athletes out there in tennis.

Fitness has been Raducanu’s biggest concern as she dealt with several injuries since her successful run at Flushing Meadows. Injuries forced the former World No. 10 to languish outside of the top 300 but her runs, especially on the grass swing this season helped her rankings as she now stands on the 55th position. Because of injury, she also missed several tournaments on the Asian swing.
