The Cincinnati Bengals are on the verge of missing their second consecutive playoffs as they prepare for the final showdown of the season against the Pittsburgh Steelers. And this time, Emmanuel Acho decided to be tough rather than highlight the individual prominence of the quarterback that has placed him in the MVP conversation by many pundits.
As the Bengals prepare for a must-win game against a winning team the Steelers, the sports analyst did not hold back in his critique of the team, particularly the star quarterback. While there’s no doubt that Burrow has played with an MVP caliber this season, the Bengals’ playoff hopes are hanging by a thread.
In the recent episode of Fox Sports’ The Facility, Acho expressed his frustration about another season of failure in Cincinnati despite having several stats leaders in the league. And as he said that, he questioned Burrow’s credibility as the “second-best quarterback” in the NFL.
I can no longer keep claiming you’re the second-best quarterback in football. That’s long gone if you missed the playoffs for the second consecutive season. Once, people would suggest this for fluke, but twice becomes a habit… It’s just unacceptable for somebody I proclaim to be the second-best quarterback in all of the league.

Burrow is leading the NFL in yards with 4,641 and a touchdown count of 42 along with a 76.7 QBR, which is ranked second in the NFL.
Joe Burrow addresses MVP speculation amid Bengals’ playoff push
There has been a divide in opinions about Burrow’s MVP odds. While many believe he deserves the honor this season, his name resides with the third-best odds of winning. After Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens secured his MVP fourth team MVP honor, Burrow opened up about his odds of winning the prominent award.

I doubt it. Usually you gotta win your division… It is what it is. That’s how it’s voted. I don’t necessarily disagree with it, I would say. I’ll win [the MVP award] one day.
Joe Burrow said, when asked if he could win the trophy
Despite the mounting criticism and debates, Burrow remains focused on the task at hand, the upcoming Week 18 game. His resilience and determination to win throughout the season has brought the team at this point to still have a glimmer of Super Bowl hopes, otherwise, it would have gone long ago.
