FOX's Emmanuel Acho explained Josh Allen won MVP over Lamar Jackson for his value to the Bills, not for being the NFL's best player.

The football fraternity found it hard to swallow the news of Josh Allen piping Lamar Jackson as the 2024 NFL MVP. After AP released the names of the 50 voters who dissected every little detail to pick the rightful winner, fans singled out those who didn’t pick the Ravens quarterback as their first choice.
One very observant Twitter handle jokingly proclaimed that it’s racist to choose Allen as the MVP during Black History Month. So, Jackson’s admirers were ticked off when they discovered Emmanuel Acho’s first choice for MVP was the Bills QB and not Jackson.
Let’s just forget about Acho’s recent controversies for a second and focus on the voting. The former NFL player/award-winning writer/FOX analyst was among the 27 who voted for Josh Allen, chose Lamar Jackson as the second best, and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes as third.
Before casting his vote, Acho e-mailed the head of voting—the overseer who makes sure everything is in order and every voter follows the guidelines to select the correct player.
The main honcho made sure to remind Acho that they were voting for the most valuable player and not the best player of the season. By and large, it means choosing the player whose absence makes the team a dumpster fire.
[NFL] MVP what does it go to? The Heisman Trophy in college is the most outstanding player in college football. All Pro is the person who had the best all-around season. MVP, it’s the most valuable.

Allen bagged the MVP based on his value and not because he was the best player
Lamar Jackson received All-Pro honors after the season ended while Allen had to settle with Pro Bowl status. Fans didn’t roll their eyes back then because it was a foregone conclusion despite the Bills pushing the Ravens out of the AFC title race.

The two players have zero animosity for each other and yet it’s the social media warriors who are at each other’s throats ever since Allen stepped onto the podium to collect his MVP trophy. Allen later confided his shock at winning the trophy even though Lamar was nowhere near the vicinity while the Wyoming graduate showed up with Hollywood star Hailee Steinfeld, swooning all over him.
There are several reasons for Allen to be named as the MVP. Acho explained a couple.
To me, Josh Allen had the most valuable season because of what Josh Allen did, who he did it with, and who he did it against.

What’s done is done, and it hardly makes any sense to brood over it. Be more like Acho’s colleague LeSean McCoy, who apparently knew Allen was a superstar the moment he walked into the Bills facility as a rookie. It’s better for everyone to just accept and move on. They should switch their attention to the Super Bowl and not stay fixated on NBA trade deals or Eli Manning allegedly snubbed from the Hall of Fame.
