Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese

The WNBA has recently been a talking point in the basketball community due to two rookie sensations, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. Interestingly, Clark has been receiving a lot of criticism since her debut in the WNBA this 2023-24 season. Notably, sports analyst, Emmanuel Acho asserts that he knows how the Clark-criticism started and who was behind it.

On the Fox Sports Show, Acho claimed that Reese was the villain in Caitlin Clark’s current situation in the WNBA. He also claimed that a few antiques done by Reese on the court against Clark led to the situation turning personal among the basketball community. Acho stated that Reese’s actions turned the problem into a “race issue” which led to the immense criticism and hate Clark is facing as of yet.

When Angel Reese says, you can't see me, that did make this more than just a basketball issue. It made it a race issue, and if you don't care about basketball you care about the color of your skin so it transcends to the game of basketball.
Emmanual Acho said on the Fox Sports show
It was imperative for Angel Reese to be into the conversation, so that Caitlin Clark becomes the star that Caitlin Clark was, every hero you need a villain...now the dilemma is that when Angel Reese says she doesn't want to be a villain and now she says she does want to be a villain, the reason that you are primarily a fixture in this story is the reason why you are a villain.
Emmanuel Acho added

How this story regarding Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese unfolds in the coming days/weeks in the WNBA remains to be seen. Clark would be hoping that the hate and criticism she’s facing for being an overseas player could stop as soon as possible.

Angel Reese makes bold admission on Caitlin Clark comparisons

This season, a large number of new fans have discovered the WNBA thanks to the extraordinary popularity of Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever. Despite this, Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky does not believe that Clark is worthy of getting so much popularity. Reese recently opened up on the Caitlin Clark comparisons and made a bold admission regarding it.

I’ll look back in 20 years and be like: ‘Yeah, the reason why we’re watching women’s basketball is not just because of one person, it’s because of me, too.’ I want y’all to realize that. It’s not just because of one person.
Angel Reese told the reporters in the post-match press conference

On the sports side, Reese’s Chicago Sky was defeated by Clark’s Indiana Fever (71-70) by just 1 point. However, the Fever and Caitlin Clark have made a dreadful start to their WNBA season and will be hoping to change their fortunes after their recent win over Sky.
