England loses out on Nations League finals qualification after loss to Belgium
England made things easy for Belgium as they lost 2-0 to them in the Nations League. England has now lost the chance to qualify for the finals of the Nations League. They next face Iceland in a dead rubber as both teams no chance of qualifying now,
Comfortable win for Belgium
Goals from Youri Tielemans and Dries Mertens ensured that England was trailing from the 23rd minute. Dries Mertens curled in a free-kick and Youri Tielemans scored from a deflection. Harry Kane had his shot cleared off the line right after Youri had scored. England had lost to Denmark already and defeat here meant that they have no chance of qualification from their group.
Denmark defeated Iceland with Christian Eriksen’s penalty being the winning goal for them. Belgium and Denmark will go against each other in the next match of the group while England take on Iceland. England and Iceland play for nothing except to avoid the last place in the group. Belgium and Denmark will try to win at the other team’s expense in order to qualify for the finals of the Nations League.
