English cricket fan who travelled to Sri Lanka in March for England tour stays back in the country; waits for long-delayed series
A cricket fan from England, 37-year-old Rob Lewis who travelled to Sri Lanka in March for England’s tour of Sri Lanka which was canceled has stayed back in the island nation and taken a vow to stay there till England comes touring again. Fortunately for him, the English Cricket Board have confirmed that the tour will happen later this year.
During his ongoing and more than 8-month stay at Sri Lanka, Lewis has adopted a stray dog and has lived by a seashore. He has also taken up a job as a DJ under the alias ‘Randy Caddick’ and become friends with Sri Lanka cricket’s workers.
The ardent fan has stated that he has hopes that England will return to the country in January so that he can watch those matches before going back home. He has also sent in an application to be a ball-boy in the event that crowds are not allowed for matches so he can finally watch the matches he came for.
‘I’ve managed to get a few gigs in Colombo’
Speaking about how he has spent his time in Sri Lanka, Lewis was quoted as saying, “When curfew got here, I stayed close to Hiriketiya seashore. It’s usually a very well-liked vacationer seashore and it was abandoned. So I used to be swimming within the sea most days and had the entire seashore to myself. It was insane. I’m relying on January for the cricket. And in the event that they don’t come then it’s been an extended look forward to nothing. Let’s simply keep constructive and hope that they arrive… or the little quest will fail and corona will win,” according to the Daily Mirror.
Lewis also spoke about how he has taken up the job of a DJ. “I’ve managed to get just a few gigs in Colombo the place I used to be on flyers, which has been tremendous enjoyable. I now DJ beneath the identify DJ Randy Caddick – a nod to the former England bowler Andy Caddick. If I do properly, I’m going to have like a spotlight reel of Andy Caddick taking part in behind me whereas I DJ,” Lewis further said.
“I was so fortunate – reports from back home, all my family are stuck in their houses, very hard lockdown, so I was pretty lucky. I was in touch with people back home and they were like, man, you’ve just got to stay there, because the UK is just completely shut up,” Lewis added.
