Unseeded Canadian Denis Shapovalov lost his cool during a tough third-round battle against eighth seed Hubert Hurkacz at Roland Garros. They started playing on May 31st at the Court Simonne-Mathieu which unfortunately has not yet ended due to rain.

The Canadian faced Hurkacz after beating Luca Van Assche and Frances Tiafoe in the first two rounds. He did not have a great start against the Pole, winning just three games in the first set.

Andrey Rublev and Arthur Rinderknech flew into a rage during their matches

Hours before this incident, sixth seed Andrey Rublev, who defeated Taro Daniel and Pedro Martinez, registered a shock defeat in straight sets 7-6(8-6), 6-2, 6-4 against unseeded Matteo Arnaldi. The Russian, who is known for his angry on-court moments, once again flew into a rage by smashing his racket, screaming at his box, and even hitting himself. After the match, he expressed his disappointment over such behavior.

Completely disappointed with myself for the way I behaved, and the way I performed, and I don’t remember behaving worse on a Slam ever. I think it was the first time I ever behaved that bad.
Andrey Rublev said at the press conference

The Russian explained the reason behind his meltdown saying he had a lot of chances but missed them and was struggling with his temper right from the first set. Then in the second set, he got emotional as he was finding it tough to come back.

Then out of nowhere, again, I collapse with myself. I get emotional, I lose my serve, and then I lose it completely.
Andrey Rublev added

Even local player Arthur Rinderknech on Friday was forced to retire due to his angry outburst against Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the second round. Rinderknech kicked an advertising board and ended up hurting his toe, giving the walkover to the Argentine who will next face two-time Roland Garros finalist Casper Ruud
