“I’d look for somebody,” WWE Hall of Famer picks 26-year-old superstar as the ideal opponent for Goldberg’s retirement match

Having recently teased wrestling his final match in WWE, Bill Goldberg doesn't have a litany of options as his opponents.

Every once in a while, Goldberg does something that rejuvenates his hackneyed dream of one last match. Especially after his recent run-in with Gunther at WWE Bad Blood, it at least appears as if he’s not done just yet. Taking that into account, Eric Bischoff has proposed what he thinks would be the ideal name to face The Icon if he were to have a retirement match.

Eric handpicked Raw Superstar Bron Breakker for the job on his 83 Weeks podcast. Bischoff underscored the need to put that name over who’d end up wrestling Goldberg in his swansong. Moreover, the former WCW executive called for someone who shares a storied past with Bill. Having said that, the WWE HOF’er does indeed have deep-seated ties with Bron’s patriarchs, The Steiner Brothers.

In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Goldberg was all praise for Breakker. He revealed that Bron’s helped his son Gage in times when he needed it. The 59-year-old told Van Vliet that he used to travel with the Steiners back in the day, so he loves their kids. And Breakker’s someone Goldberg has seen grow up in front of his eyes. So, of course, they have personal synergy.

I’d look for somebody young or I’d look for something that had a story to it that you could tell without having six months of TV behind you — is there a way to use Rick Steiner’s son……

That’s one of the major reasons why Eric Bischoff chose the former Intercontinental Champion to walk Da Man into retirement. Breakker and Bill Goldberg recently caught up at a college football game in Colorado. It made the netizens clamor for a match between the two.

Both men are over 30 years apart in terms of their ages. That’s what a generational gap looks like. Having said so, they’re not apart at all when it comes to the pro wrestling biz. It’d be an instant click if they work together at some point.

Does WWE plan on having Gunther vs. Goldberg instead?

As mentioned above, Goldberg got into a heated confrontation with Gunther at Bad Blood. The Georgia native sat front row alongside his son and wife. It was a match made in heaven for The Ring General to disregard the wrestling great in front of his family.

Gunther told Goldberg’s son Gage that he hoped Bill was a better father than he’s as a professional wrestler. But before that, he cleared up something. The World Heavyweight Champion discarded his previously made claim that Bill was his favorite wrestler growing up.

In hindsight, the erstwhile Walter said it just so that he could rib Bret Hart off. As of now, the Imperium leader isn’t scheduled to wrestle the former WCW Champion at neither Survivor Series in November nor at WrestleMania 41.
