Eric Garcia's move to Barcelona confirmed by Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has all but confirmed Eric Garcia’s long impending move to boyhood club FC Barcelona. Rumours about the move have been doing the round since the winter transfer window this season.

The 20-year old moved to Manchester City in 2017 and has found it difficult to break into the Manchester City’s first eleven. Pep Guardiola has brought in a number of defenders during his time at City to bolster that particular position which has meant lesser chances for the youngster.

Eric Garcia has longed for a move back to Barcelona ever since 2019

“There are players even who don’t play any matches. I think, for example, of Eric Garcia who is one of my favourite players,” Guardiola said in his press conference after Sunday’s Carabao Cup final win over Tottenham.

Eric Garcia has only 10 appearances this season despite City being involved in all 4 of the competitions even till last week. Guardiola has preferred to use the tried and tested duo of Stones and Laporte this season over the other recruitments.

“I would love to have 15 Eric Garcias for the way he conducts his behaviour. He is always thinking of the team. He’s always a good face in the good or bad moments. He helps the manager and the backroom staff all the time.

“He will go in an incredible team and when the people say they are unsatisfied if I don’t play, I think of Eric. Most of the time he’s not on the bench because he’s going to move to Barcelona, I hope so. It’s tough, but it is what it is.”
