Many found it surprising that Erik ten Hag opted to leave out Marcus Rashford from the starting line-up to face Crystal Palace on Saturday night. Even though the manager explained that he made his decision based on sqaud rotation, the media came up with their own conclusions, speculating that something may have happened between Ten Hag and Rashford. In a press conference, the Dutchman called out the same as he proceeded to defend his decision.

Marcus Rashford has been in red-hot form for the Red Devils, having scored thrice and set up another in his last four games. However, Joshua Zirkzee took his spot against Crystal Palace as he failed to find the net.

I have already heard this speculation from pundits and it's crazy. As a person, you're not okay if you bring such speculation. I'm very happy with Marcus. This is just rotation.

Even though Rashford got his chance in the 61st minute, the score ended 0-0 despite United’s best efforts. While United struggled up front to create chances, club outcast Jadon Sancho already has two assists to his name this season.

Man United were clearly the ‘better’ side as they made the trip to Selhurst Park on Saturday night. The Red Devils enjoyed the majority of possession, chances created and shots taken. However, this did not manage to reflect itself on the final score line as either side shared a point each after 90 minutes.

Crystal Palace have Dean Henderson to thank for the result as the Englishman made a total of seven crucial saves throughout the game. Both Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes hit the post while Manchester United were let off with a shot that went minutely wide of the post in final minutes. As the game came to a close, Andre Onana expressed why his team couldn’t score.

Today, our guys did the best, but God didn't want the ball to go into their net.

The Cameroonian also did well to make a spectacular double save to keep United in the game. With seven points in five games, United are in 11th position in the Premier League. The Reds play their next game against FC Twente in the UEFA Europa League.
