Marcus Rashford has not lived up to his performances of the previous season. Rashford scored 30 goals while assisting 10 times in 2022-23, also leading Manchester United to a Carabao Cup title. But there has been a massive drop in form, with the forward managing only eight goals and five assists.
Marcus Rashford finds himself criticized by fans everywhere thanks to his poor form, with many wanting more. There have also been calls for the club to drop or sell the forward, tired of his inconsistency. Despite all these calls, United boss Erik Ten Hag believes in the academy graduate.
I have a lot of sympathy for Rashy (Rashford), of course. Last year, he had a brilliant season; I think the best in his career. I think it was 30 goals. We can see what he is capable of. This season, he hasn't given the performances and people are very critical and I think we have to back him.Erik Ten Hag in the press conference before the match with Burnley
Ten Hag added that Rashford needs the support of fans, who need to back him. He believes as long as he has the backing of fans, he will reach the levels of the previous season.
Marcus Rashford hits out at fans after “months of abuse”
Marcus Rashford has been regularly criticized for his terrible form on social media sites since the start of the season. Along with that, there has been some abuse mixed in, with the player often scapegoated after every United loss.
A fan on Twitter decided to call out the way the fans treated Rashford. He called the treatment “absolutely disgusting” and termed it as abuse. The United forward noticed the tweet and agreed with the fan, publicly claiming the fans abused him.
I appreciate your support! It is abuse and has been for months. Enough is enough.

Rashford had earlier spoken about how unfair the media treatment of him was on Player’s Tribune. He called out the fans who criticized him for his lack of commitment to the club, claiming they were wrong. He called it an “attack on his identity,” adding that he grew up in Manchester and is committed to the club.
Rashford is currently injured, limping off in the 97th minute during their FA Cup semi-final tie with Coventry City. He missed United’s 4-2 win over Sheffield United on 24th April. He will most probably miss United’s clash with Burnley as well, still out due to injury.
