Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United haven’t had the best of seasons, to say the least. From embarrassing losses to early exits and internal conflict, the club has been in a tough spot for the majority of the season. As expected, the Red Devils failed to impress in the Premier League on Saturday night. A 2-2 draw against Bournemouth pointed to even bigger problems inside the team’s dressing room.
Die-hard United fan and YouTuber Mark Goldbridge took to Twitter as he criticized Erik ten Hag for ‘subtly’ pushing the blame on Alejandro Garnacho. The Argentine, however, was at fault in the build-up to the opening goal of the game. The No.17’s heavy touch in the middle of the pitch resulted in the ball falling invitingly to Dominic Solanke.
The Englishman took a few touches at the edge of the United box before exquisitely placing his shot past Andre Onana. Following the game, fans noticed Garnacho’s like on Twitter on a Tweet by Mark Goldbridge.
In the Tweet, Goldbridge holds Ten Hag accountable for throwing a 19-year-old ‘under the bus’ to save face. He also said that Ten Hag fears upsetting the ‘bigger earners’.
Erik ten Hag’s Man United fail to overcome Bournemouth in disappointing display
United’s weaknesses were laid bare on Saturday night as the Red Devils made the visit to Vitality Stadium. An error from Alejandro Garnacho gave the hosts an easy way to take the lead through Dominic Solanke. That being said, one can take nothing away from his exquisite finish.
Garnacho then made amends for his error when he played the ball through to captain Bruno Fernandes. The Portuguese unleashed a powerful volley from close range to give the Bournemouth keeper no chance. Justin Kluivert once again pushed the hosts into the lead through a sublime strike to the near post.
As United looked devoid of ideas to get back into the game, Kobbie Mainoo, with a stroke of luck, won a penalty for United. His shot deflected off of a Bournemouth defender before striking another in the arm. Bruno Fernandes, as always stepped up to bring his team level from the spot. His composed spot-kick fooled Neto, who dove to his left. Following the draw, United who were stuck in sixth have now dropped to seventh.
