Beyond all the trophies, accolades and records, a football club’s biggest achievement is it’s fans. Supporters that stay with the team through thick and thin can help any team, no matter a bad phase it is going through, to find it’s way back. Manchester United finds itself in a similar situation, with poor form and injuries plaguing their season in the Premier League.
Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag went on the record to let the fans know that he values their support and that their cheers aren’t going unheard. Ten Hag has come under severe criticism at various points in the season for his team’s performance. However, the Dutchman thanked the fans for their support and how they backed the team through this tough phase.
I can see that Man United fans are constantly behind us. I hear the reception when we're entering Old Trafford. This is also true for away games, backing the team.Erik ten Hag said in a press conference ahead of the game vs Burnley
He also outlined how good of a connection the fans share with the players and the club.
Man United desperately in need of win as Burnley pose next challenge
Following an impressive display against Sheffield United, momentum is on United’s side as they take on Burnley at Old Trafford. Despite being stuck at sixth position, a few good wins at the end of the season will greatly improve Erik ten Hag’s chances of continuing at the club. However, it will be no easy task as United will be without main man Marcus Rashford.
That being said, the club are preparing to welcome back Mason Mount into the fray. Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof are all out with injuries for the upcoming match. Casemiro is likely to drop into defense with Harry Maguire while Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund will team up with Bruno Fernandes, who is in stellar form up front.
Amad Diallo is also likely to get a start against Burnley after making a second half cameo in United’s 4-2 win a few days ago. A win will not change United’s position in the table, however, failing to secure all three points at a time when Ten Hag is under ‘assessment’ will be detrimental to his tenure at the club. With 53 points in 33 games, United are sixth position, seven points behind Tottenham Hotspur.
