Things couldn’t be worse at Manchester United or can it? The Red Devils have endured a less than ideal season under Erik ten Hag as they struggled to live up to their expectations yet again! Early elimination from the Champions League, falling down to sixth in the Premier League and a lot of internal conflict has outlined Man United’s season this year.

Despite his position still being under review by the management, Ten Hag made a bold admission, stating that his side are not in a position to compete for the League title next season too! After an embarrassing draw against Burnley at Old Trafford, it is unlikely that United will go above sixth this year.

When everyone is available, we're competing for top four. We can come closer to first or second if we have a good transfer window. We have to strengthen key positions and improve the depth of the squad.
Erik ten Hag said in a post-match interview

The Red Devils take on Crystal Palace, Arsenal and Newcastle United in their next three games.

United held to frustrating draw by Burnley

Days after an impressive win against Sheffield United, United’s weaknesses were laid bare yet again as Burnley held them to an embarrassing 1-1 draw. The first half saw Andre Onana be at the top of his game to keep out Burnley on several occasions. The shot stopper lived up to his billing as United slowly gained momentum towards the end of the first half.

Subsequently, Antony stepped up to score his first goal of the Premier League season, giving the home fans the impression that victory is just a few minutes away. However, Onana found a way to spoil the party for himself, as a very late clearance caught a Burnley attacker in the process. The following penalty kick was converted with ease by Zeki Amdouni.

Following the game, United remain in sixth position, firmly seated six points behind Tottenham Hotspur. Fans made fun of United for their ‘bottling’ mentality while others found even more reasons to make fun of Onana. Many had a go at Rasmus Hojlund for not scoring despite him receiving the most passes in the game.
