The Premier League is set to begin with the traditional curtain raiser as Manchester United prepare to take on Manchester City in the FA Community Shield. The defending Premier League champions are on the back of a rather underwhelming pre-season campaign while Erik ten Hag‘s men can’t say that they’ve done much better themselves.

With the game set to kick-off on Saturday afternoon, Ten Hag insisted that his men have nothing to prove against Pep Guardiola and co. Fans are confident that the Red Devils will force a repeat of the FA Cup final, where Ten Hag’s men pulled off an unexpected 2-1 win.

We know that we can already beat City and the result on Saturday will not change that. The FA Cup was a higher competition but we want to win nevertheless.
Erik ten Hag said in the press conference per The Mirror

He, however, acknowledged that not all of his players are up to pace and that it will take time for his team to attain peak levels of performance.

Manchester United handed ‘boost’ in pursuit of two Bayern Munich stars

It is no secret that both Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are potential transfer targets for Manchester United. However, despite initial reports that both deals are in advanced stages, there has been no further developments in recent days. It is understood that both United and Bayern have to force departures if they are to realize their respective transfer targets.

As for the Red Devils, right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been listed on the market in hopes that they can bring in funds for Mazraoui. Bayern are on the lookout for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah, who will be a replacement for Matthijs de Ligt, as the Dutch is seemingly on his way out to United.

Fabrizio Romano revealed recently that De Ligt and Mazraoui have been waiting for United since June and July respectively.

While Wan-Bissaka to West Ham United is still in the works, there are also rumors that United have a verbal agreement in place to bring in both Bayern stars. As per reports, both players will sign for United on five-year deals, with options to extend to six.
