After a rather disappointing finish in the Premier League last season, Manchester United did not qualify for the Champions League. As the UCL kicked off for the first time in its new format, United played no part in it. However, the Red Devils made their own headlines as they demolished League One side Barnsley by seven goals to one.

Ten Hag and co. were in the mood on Tuesday night as they took to the pitch at Old Trafford. Marcus Rashford opened the scoring with a stunning finish to the top right corner in the 16th minute. This was followed up with a penalty goal for Antony, after which Alejandro Garnacho made it 3-0. Both Rashford and Garnacho went on to secure braces and Christian Eriksen also scored twice.

This was the perfect night, not for me but for the players. I think we could do everything that we planned to and hopefully we win the next round.
Erik ten Hag told the press

The 7-0 win meant that Ten Hag enjoyed his biggest win ever since taking charge of the Red Devils. Rashford became the outright top scorer in League Cup competitions with 15 goals to his name.

Marcus Rashford’s red-hot form and United’s glimmer of hope

Both fans and players had a night to remember as United came out on top by seven goals to none on Tuesday night. To begin with, Garnacho showed his class by scoring twice and also picking up two assists. His goal record this season meant that the Argentine is picking up a goal contribution every 29 minutes. Fans claimed that Erik ten Hag is creating a beast out of the Argentine.

Fans were also happy to see Rashford back to his best, as the Englishman scored his third goal in his last two games. Besides the brace, Rashford also set up Garnacho for his first goal. Christian Eriksen handed his Man of the Match award to the No. 10 as fans praised the former for his kindness. Rashford and Garnacho both hit the former’s iconic celebration after the Argentine was seen asking him to do so after his goal.

Despite the 3-0 defeat to rivals Liverpool just over two weeks ago, the Red Devils have managed to find their feet in recent games. With a 3-0 win over Southampton and the 7-0 result on Tuesday, fans are hopeful that the club can keep up its winning streak with upcoming games against Crystal Palace and FC Twente in the Europa League.
