Manchester United’s performances this season have been far from ideal. The Red Devils have struggled to pick up form this season and find themselves in seventh position at the moment. Sir Jim Ratcliffe‘s take-over of the club and appointment of new technical staff meant that Erik ten Hag was in for trial sooner or later. The day has finally arrived for Ten Hag to go under the microscope as the club assess his stay at the club.
Following the appointment of new technical director Jason Wilcox, reports state that Ten Hag will be under ‘trial’ over the course of the next month. The club barely managed to scrape past Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-final and will now face Manchester City in the final showdown. The club, despite going 3-0 up, conceded 3 to force the game to penalties.
It is understood that the club will assess Ten Hag’s control over the dressing room and his strengths & weaknesses before giving him the ticket to manage the club next season.
There are still doubts whether the Dutchman is the apt candidate to lead the club under the Ratcliffe era. However, the lack of a clear successor puts even more doubt on the impending decision.
Former PL striker says this is the ‘end of the road’ for Ten Hag
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag hasn’t been able to replicate his success with Ajax at Old Trafford. The Dutchman’s side most recently ’embarrassed’ themselves against EFL Championship side Coventry City.
Conceding 3 goals in 24 minutes and barely scraping past on penalties put further doubt on the manager’s ability. Former Premier League striker Chris Sutton certainly wasn’t convinced after United’s poor showing in the FA Cup.

Several football pundits and fans have been calling for the Red’s boss to be sacked after poor displays in the past.
As the Red Devils remain at an unimpressive seventh position, their upcoming games against Arsenal, Newcastle United and Brighton will determine where they finish this season. Ten Hag was in no mood to comment when asked about his club dropping below seventh and thereby finishing at an all-time low. Up next, Man United face Sheffield United at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
