Christian Eriksen made a much publicized moved from Tottenham to Inter Milan last January. The player’s contract was due to expire in June 2020. Hence, Spurs decided to sell him in a cut price deal of 20 million Euros to Inter Milan. Eriksen was looking for a new challenge with Inter looking perfect for him due to the fact that Conte’s side lacked a attacking midfielder capable of splitting open defenses. However, it looks like the move has turned sour with Conte not willing to give a chance to Eriksen in the starting XI.

It’s a strange situation – Eriksen

Antonio Conte’s style of play is different to other coaches. He prefers to setup his side in a defensive way and drills his side to seamlessly switch formations during the match. Eriksen doesn’t necessarily fit into this criteria but it was hoped that Conte would find a place for the talented midfielder in his lineup.

Eriksen has gotten frustrated by sitting on the bench and talking to TV2 said, “This isn’t what I dreamed of. All players want to play as much as possible, but the coach decides who gets to go on the pitch. It is a strange situation, as the fans want to see me playing more and so would I, but the coach has different ideas and as a player I have to respect that. I am concentrating on my football, then when the transfer window opens we will see if something will happen or not.”

A host of clubs around Europe such as PSG, Real Madrid and Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign Eriksen. However, the thing that seems baffling is that Inter are currently struggling and are at 7th place in Serie A and last place in their champions league group. Hence, they could use a player like Eriksen because he has the vison to break down packed defenses and Inter need that creativity at this moment.
