Manchester City forward Erling Haaland has once again grabbed headlines, after equaling Cristiano Ronaldo’s record as the fastest player to score 100 goals for a club, in the 21st century. The Norwegian forward broke the record during Sunday’s EPL match against Arsenal.

The 24-year-old front-man scored a goal in just the 9th minute of the match, helped by an assist from Savinho. He accelerated past Arsenal’s defensive duo of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba, before firing a low shot past goalkeeper David Raya into the back of the net. It marked his tenth goal of the season, in just his fifth EPL appearance of the season, putting him way ahead of second-placed Liverpool star Luis Diaz, who has scored five goals till now.

Erling Haaland’s goal at the Etihad was a historic one, as he equaled Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo’s record as the fastest player to reach the 100-goal mark. Both he and Ronaldo took 105 matches to set the record, a feat that has been helped by both the forwards’ incredible consistency and finishing abilities. Ronaldo had accomplished the record during his spell with the Los Blancos. Haaland, meanwhile, has already broken the record for most goals in a player’s first four EPL outings.

Moreover, it marked the Norwegian forward’s 235th goal in European top-flight, that he has scored while playing for clubs, Molde, RB Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund and City. If he keeps performing like this, he can win another Premier League Golden Boot, after winning it two seasons in a row.

The Norwegian slapped Arteta on the back while shaking his hand and uttered ‘stay humble’, leaving the Spaniard manager fuming. He turned around to face the forward, but then walked away. However, Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus stepped in and questioned Haaland over his provocation, leading to a feud between the two players. The other players had to separate the two from fighting.

Haaland was also involved in an altercation with Gabriel Magalhaes in the 98th minute, as he picked up the ball and bounced it off the defender’s head, after a late extra-time equalizer by John Stones
