There is no debate as to whether Erling Haaland is one of the best strikers in the game. The Norwegian recently won the Premier League Golden Boot while also having the joint second-most goals in the UEFA Champions League. However, the City No.9 has an underwhelming record in finals, having failed to score yet again when it ‘mattered the most’.

Haaland’s contribution in the FA Cup final against Manchester United on Saturday was limited to an embarrassing zero shots on target. The forward’s best chance of the game came in the 54th minute, when a cut-back from Jeremy Doku fell at his feet. Haaland’s powerful strike failed to hit the target and ricocheted off the crossbar and back into play.

His two off-target shots and a meagre 69% passing accuracy meant that fans targeted the forward after the game. Despite his immaculate goal scoring ability, the forward is yet to find the net in finals or semi-finals for his club.

Zero assists or goals in nine such games meant that fans showed no mercy to the player following the full-time whistle.

Fans react to Erling Haaland’s embarrassing performance for City in the final

The Premier League Golden Boot winner was no good for City as they struggled to find the net against Manchester United on Saturday. The FA Cup final at Wembley saw the Norwegian paint a lonely picture of himself up top for the Cityzens in a 2-1 defeat.

A fan commented that Haaland hilariously failed to recreate Kylian Mbappe‘s performance in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final. Yet another chipped in, claiming that no other big player ‘chokes’ the way Haaland does in big games and finals.

Several comments praised Haaland’s marker – Lisandro Martìnez for his monumental performance. A fan commented that it was embarrassing for Haaland to be pocketed by someone almost 20 cm shorter than him.

Others made fun of the Norwegian for apparently ‘diving’ on multiple occasions to win penalties for his side. Many Lionel Messi fans laughed at how a certain group of supporters were enraged that the same Erling Haaland didn’t win the Ballon d’Or last season.

Despite all the criticism, City fans backed Haaland, claiming that he’ll be fine with his two Premier League titles and Golden Boots at home.
