Manchester City are cruising in the Champions League. The Cityzens picked up a 5-0 win on Wednesday as they crushed Czech side Sparta Praha at the Etihad. Despite the staggering score line, Erling Haaland managed to steal all the headlines for a wonderful goal scored in the 58th minute. Haaland, John Stones, Phil Foden, and Matheus Nunes got on the scoresheet as City claimed their second win in Europe.
City were leading by a single goal as Haaland claimed his first goal of the night. Savinho sent in a cross from the right wing, which came in at an uncomfortable angle for the No. 9. This, however, didn’t stop the Norwegian from finding the net as he jumped away from his marker before pulling off a near unbelievable finish.
Replays showed the player completely in the air, fully extended while he made contact on the ball with his left foot. The ball took a firm bounce on the ground before eluding the reach of opposition keeper Peter Vindahl Jensen.

Haaland’s brace against Sparta Praha meant that he is now on 44 UCL goals at just 24 years of age!
Manchester City demolish Sparta Praha in Champions League
Even though Manchester City were clear favorites heading into the Champions League tie against Sparta Praha, not many expected the Cityzens to put five goals past them on the night. After a poor run of form for both club and country, Phil Foden opened the scoring at the Etihad with a powerful low-driven shot into the bottom right corner. No other goals were scored in the first half.
However, City finally broke through again in the 58th minute through Erling Haaland. John Stones made it 3-0 from a header before Haaland went on to double his tally. The player dribbled past the central defenders before finding the net with his weaker right foot.

Matheus Nunes ended the visitors’ misery with the fifth and final goal of the night from the penalty spot. The Portuguese beat the keeper from twelve yards to finally get on the scoresheet in a game in which he set up his teammates twice. The win also meant that City broke the record for the longest unbeaten run in the Champions League, previously held by rivals Manchester United.
