Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has failed to score or assist in his last three games for Manchester City. The clash against Aston Villa saw the No.9 paint a solitary picture of himself up front.
With an accumulated xG of just 0.11, the Norwegian striker had a night to forget. Statistically speaking, the player only took one shot throughout the game, that too, missing the target by a huge margin.
Haaland’s inefficiency in front of goal was partially covered up by Phil Foden‘s strike in the 93rd minute. However, the club was forced to accept defeat as Unai Emery‘s men ran away with a 2-1 win.

Following the game, several fans took to social media to criticize Haaland and the rest of his teammates, with many pointing out the striker’s lack of goals. Haaland himself opened up about his situation after the game, as he vowed to do better.
The striker, despite going through a ‘dry’ spell, still remains the top scorer in the Premier League alongside Mohamed Salah with 13 goals. Despite the troubles faced the team, Haaland remains hopeful of avoiding the slump.
Erling Haaland announces ‘trust’ in Pep Guardiola amidst rising uncertainty
Despite all the titles and revolutionary changes implemented by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, the manager’s position at the club is currently hovering beside a huge question mark. With just one win in the last 12 games, the Cityzens are in desperate need of a revival for their season.
The 53-year-old has been forced to navigate his side through an injury crisis and spells of poor form for the larger part of this season.

As the club lost yet another League game to Unai Emery’s side, Erling Haaland had to come to the defense of his manager. Speaking to the press after a frustrating outing, Haaland was quick to back his manager.
Pep Guardiola jokingly told the press that he wasn’t in a position to make creative and tactical changes with players in his side at the moment. This reflects the desperation for positive results and the need for a quick turnaround.
The upcoming games against Everton and Leicester can give City a significant boost in morale if the reigning champions find a way to get the better of the sides currently just above the relegation zone.
