ESL Pro League to be held Online; 2021 event will be held in Malta

As the Covid pandemic continues to hinder LAN tournaments, ESL’s classic event ESL pro league has been shifted to Online even though the organizers initially hoped for a LAN event.
ESL revealed more details about the future of the ESL Pro League. The tournament will be split into regional divisions just like other tournaments for Season 12 because of the ongoing pandemic.
Season 13 and 14 will return to LAN in 2021 and will take place in Malta.
Season 12 will cover all the regions EU, NA, Asia, Oceania and SA and will be played from September 1 to October 6.
EU will have the highest share of $450,000 of the season’s $750,000 and next NA with $225,000.
The remaining regions will have $25,000 each on offer.
ESL announced in June that it will host Season 12 on LAN with 24 teams if players were able to travel safely.
Fans had their hopes up high as their hopes dropped when it was revealed that ESL One Cologne would have to be held online because of the virus.

Malta was selected as the host country for ESL Pro League Season 11 before itt was moved online and was also hold Season 12.
ESL and GamingMalta, a non-profit foundation set up by the government of Malta and by the Malta Gaming Authority, were able to agree on an extension to their strategic partnership to develop Maltese esports community.
