Will Novak Djokovic play in this year’s Wimbledon? The surgery on his knee has spoiled his plans in the midst of a year which so far has been forgettable.
Amidst confusion over his participation, ESPN shared the Wimbledon promo without including the Serb, who has won seven titles, the second most in the history of men’s tennis. Fans noticed this and criticized ESPN for ignoring the most successful player in the history of the Grand Slam.

Djokovic suffered the knee injury during his campaign at Roland Garros earlier in June after slipping on the court during his fourth-round match against Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo. He later pulled out of his quarterfinal clash with Casper Ruud and the surgery on his knee made him stay on the sidelines. Although he has arrived in Wimbledon to train and get his form and fitness back, he has made it clear that his participation will only depend on whether he’s able to play to his full potential.
I didn’t come here to play a few rounds. If I know I can play close to my maximum or at maximum, then I'll play. If not, then I'll give somebody else a chance to play. I really will only play if I know I am in a state that is good enough to go far in the tournament and fight for the title, so that's the condition.Novak Djokovic told the BBC
The tennis fraternity is eagerly waiting for his announcement because they don’t want to watch Wimbledon without a member of the Big 3 for the first time after many years. Djokovic last won the Wimbledon in 2022, and although he reached the final to defend his title in 2023, Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz defeated him in five sets.
Fans slam ESPN for not including Novak Djokovic in its Wimbledon promo
On social media, while some fans slammed ESPN for ignoring Novak Djokovic, some fans pointed out that ESPN might have done this because Djokovic has not confirmed his participation at the SW19. Some fans also expressed their surprise at not including World No.1 Iga Swiatek.

Then they say that nolefam talks about establishment. Where is 7 time champion and goat Novak. Only little leg shown from behind with no face. It is shameful by tennis channel and espn not to promote 24 grand slam champion. These people don’t want to even pretend

Think it was made shortly after his surgery, when all signs pointed to him not playing

Djokovic won his seven Wimbledon titles in 2011, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022. In 2023, Wimbledon was the only Grand Slam trophy he failed to win as he clinched the Australian Open, Roland Garros, and the US Open.
