Pokimane requests her Twitch fans to stop voting for her at streamer award shows

During her years of dominance of Twitch, Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys has received a slew of honours. She, on the other hand, no longer wants the attention, begging followers to stop voting about her in award shows after receiving nominations at the QTCinderella-hosted Streamer Awards ceremony.

Pokimane has almost won or at least gotten shortlisted for every award given to streamers. The Twitch star, on the other hand, is no longer interested in the ‘official’ acknowledgement. On February 22, Pokimane used her broadcast to encourage her fans to support the next generations of streamers by encouraging them to vote for everybody but herself in QTCinderella’s viewer-voted “Streamer Awards” in the Valorant category.

She has a fan base that is more than three times that of the other three Valorant streamers combined. Her nine million Twitch followers make her one of the most popular, beating out Timmy ‘iiTzTimmy’ An (1.6 million), ‘QuarterJade’ (839K), and ‘Punz’ (1.4M).

“I didn’t talk about it much yesterday because honestly, you guys can go vote for everybody except me,” she said.

It’s a thoughtful move to avoid what should be a total flop. While following sizes aren’t everything in the honours category, given that these are voted on by the public, she has a distinct advantage in bringing such a large following into the mix.

She has been shortlisted for Shorty’s, Streamy’s, Esports Awards, and Canadian Game Awards, among others. She claimed award ceremonies have been a peculiar experience for her throughout the years, expressing her thoughts on the process.

In the past, top executives in the entertainment industry have expressed similar sentiments – just look at what Seinfeld said in the late 2000s. Pokimane did, however, praise The Streamer Awards, which are hosted by Twitch star QTCinderalla.

Pokimane didn’t show any disdain for the nomination, despite encouraging followers not to vote for her. She conveyed her gratitude, but she’s more interested in allowing the next generation of streamers to carve out their own space in the virtual spotlight.
