Baldur’s Gate 3 is widely regarded as one of the most complex and gripping RPGs of all time. The game boasts a gripping story full of magical shock and awe. Additionally, the gameplay and combat system of Baldur’s Gate 3 is very engaging and fun. Players must master the combat system if they genuinely want to explore the mythical realm of Faerun.

In Act One to progress further, players must go through a goblin camp located at the Shattered Sanctum. The goblins use this base to menace the common folk of Sword Coast in the name of the Absolute in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Combat, especially at the beginning of the game, can be challenging. If players are not that comfortable with the combat system, here is a guide that will definitely help them progress further, as it helps them skip one of the hardest fights early on.

Poison the goblin camp in Baldur’s Gate 3

Once players make their way to the Goblin camp, they should be able to locate and find a large campfire that the oblivious goblins use to cook their meat. Next to it is a booze tub. Players can poison the goblin camp by clicking on the Tub and adding Basic Poison, Wyvern Toxin, or Drow Poison.

Players need to do this discreetly as if the goblins spot them poisoning the tub, and they will engage in combat. If spotted, players can manoeuvre and skip the combat with the help of dialogue options. These dialogue options require players to pass Deception, Intimidation, and Persuasion via Illithid powers, or Detect Thoughts.

If players don’t possess any of these skills, they can use a better strategy: poisoning the tub while being invisible. Players can become invisible by learning and using invisibility spells, or by buying and using invisible potions.

Invisibility potions can be purchased from many traders, such as Aunt Ethel at the Druid Grove and Roah Moonglow at the Shattered Sanctum. Once players have successfully poisoned the booze tub, a cutscene will trigger, consisting of one of the goblins asking the player why they aren’t partaking.

Players will have the option to do the following things:

  • Players can choose to spill their drink while pretending to take a sip (Pass a Sleight of Hand 10 Check)
  • Players can also convey that it would be rude to drink before their hosts (Pass a Deception 10 Check)
  • Drink the poison. Players can pass a Constitution 15 Check to avoid receiving the Poisoned debuff.

The easier option players can select is choosing to take the poison and immediately taking an antidote for it.

What happens after this?

After the toast, once the goblins drink the booze, many goblins will die and many will have a significant share of their health drained. Players will then be accused by the goblins next, but they can lie to them if they possess the right skills, such as(deception, detecting thoughts, and intimidation.

If players pass any of these checks, the goblins will destroy the poisoned booze tub and go on high alert. If the players fail the skill choice, the remaining goblins will become hostile, and a considerable combat encounter with the remaining goblins will take place.
