Here is a comprehensive spoiler-free guide explaining everything about the mysterious guardian.
Everything you need to know about Guardians in Baldur’s Gate 3
At the beginning of Baldur’s Gate 3, players will have to design two characters; one of them is their character, and the other is a mysterious character also known as the Guardian.
After this, players will not see the guardian for a long time in their game; eventually, once players are well into the game, they will start to see the guardian.
The guardian is an NPC that players will occasionally speak to in cutscenes. Additionally, the guardian will also appear in the player’s dreams. He is interested in the player due to the Illithid parasite that is infecting the minds of all the party members from the beginning.
The Guardian’s true identity is revealed late in Act 3 when a Githyanki party attacks the camp. Players must defeat the party using their best weapons and spells.
Who is the guardian?
Players will then have to travel through a portal that will take them to an Astral plane. They will then encounter the guardian, who is in combat with the Githyanki warriors. Once the combat encounter is finished, the guardian will finally reveal that they are the Emperor.
Players might become sceptical after hearing this, but the guardian reassures them that they are fighting, opposing the absolute. From now on, on, it is up to the player whether they want to listen to the guardian and understand him or join the Githyaki in this epic conquest.
