Battlefield 2042 is free to play for limited time
Battlefield 2042 experienced a rough start in November 2021, but DICE has made significant improvements, particularly with the returning class system. As our State of the Game piece on Battlefield 2042 states, “DICE has course-corrected in dramatic fashion, but it’s likely the developer will have to wait for the next iteration to see its efforts rewarded.”
The game’s free trial period coincides with a massive sale, offering a 70 percent discount at $17.99. It’s a good time for newcomers to check out the game’s new class system, and the three-day free trial period should be enough time for players to decide whether the game is their cup of tea. The game will be available for free to play until March 16th. The amount of time does feel very short. But players will get the benefits of enjoying the visually stunning game.
Battlefield 2042 Season 5
The upcoming Season 5 of Battlefield 2042 will introduce players to a new map set in a forgotten battleground that was last active during the Battlefield 4 era. The map will not be a remaster of an existing Battlefield 4 map but will return to a zone from the same timeline as Battlefield 3 and 4. The map will feature overgrown vegetation and the effects of the 2042 war, providing a blend of vehicular and infantry combat that emphasizes team play for success.
Overall, the free trial period is an excellent opportunity for PC players to test the waters and see whether the game’s recent improvements make it worth playing. With the game now running smoother and the class system reintroduced, Battlefield 2042 is worth another shot for those who may have previously been deterred.
