Clash of Clans is one of the most popular mobile strategy games of all time. It has garnered a large and loyal fanbase over the years. Players log in to this day to regularly engage with the game. It has become a routine activity in players’ life as it just takes 3-4 mins to attack.
The game is now getting a major update for its Builder Base. The Builder Base 2.0 update brings new content, including a new builder, troop level rebalancing, and layout changes. Here’s a closer look at these new features and what they mean for Clash of Clans players.

New Builder: Meet B.O.B
One of the most exciting additions to the Builder Base 2.0 update is the introduction of a new builder, B.O.B. who is a handy robotic assistant. He will join players in the Home Village as an extra builder once they reach Builder Hall 9. Players will need to complete a series of new tasks to unlock B.O.B. This includes upgrading any troop to level 18 and upgrading any defense to level 9. In addition, players will need to complete three Gear Up upgrades. The total upgrade level of all Heroes must be at least 45.
Troop Level Rebalancing
Another significant change in the update is the rebalancing of troop levels. In order to encourage players to experiment with new tactics, troops will now be automatically upgraded to their minimum level when they are unlocked in the Barracks. For higher Builder Hall levels, unlocking a new troop from level 1 can be a deterrent to experimenting with new tactics until that troop has been properly upgraded. With the new update, players will be able to jump into new multiplayer attacks more quickly. The levels that Troops will be at when they are unlocked are listed below:
- Raged Barbarian: Level 1
- Sneaky Archer: Level 1
- Boxer Giant: Level 3
- Beta Minion: Level 3
- Bomber: Level 5
- Baby Dragon: Level 5
- Cannon Cart: Level 7
- Night Witch: Level 9
- Dropship: Level 11
- Power P.E.K.K.A: Level 13
- Hog Glider: Level 15
Layout Changes
Supercell’s Builder Base 2.0 update also brings layout changes to Clash of Clans. Players who are already at Builder Hall 6 and above, they will automatically unlock the cave entrance on the western side of the Builder Base. This entrance leads to their own second stage. To accommodate this, Builder Base defenses will be randomly set for both stages. All decorations will be stashed, and any uncleared obstacles will remain where they currently are. Additionally, any obstacles blocked by repositioned buildings/traps or from the decreased size of the map will automatically be moved to valid but random positions. Any tall grass that is blocked will be removed. Any additional non-active layouts will be wiped.
For players who are below Builder Hall 6, their current layouts will be preserved as much as possible. This is done by moving them to the center of their Builder Base village map. If there are four or fewer buildings/traps that cannot fit in the smaller map size, then those buildings will be randomly placed. If there are more than four buildings/traps that do not fit the smaller map size, then the entire Builder Base layout will be placed randomly. Any additional non-active layouts will be wiped.
The Builder Base 2.0 update brings a lot of exciting changes to Clash of Clans. From the new builder B.O.B. to the rebalancing of troop levels and layout changes, the update promises to keep players engaged. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a new player just starting out, the Builder Base 2.0 update is definitely worth checking out.
