The CS 2 beta has been going strong since it commenced, and players seem to have been taken in by the improvement in the graphics. As the official release is around the corner in the summer, fans of CS: GGO will be overjoyed as one of its prominent map makers, FMPONE, recently revealed that a classic map will be added to the official game.
With his recent leak, the CS: GO mapmaker FMPONE offered the fans something to celebrate. He spoke about a forgotten map that briefly appeared on the CSGO map circuit in the past. Players will find this to be delightful.
Since one can only play Dust 2 for now, players don’t appear to be all that interested in playing the CS 2 beta. Even though in its initial release players stayed idle for hours to get a chance to play.

FMPONE beings back Santorini

On April 10, Shaun “FMPONE” Snelling put out a poll on Twitter to decide the name of his first map for CS2. More than 60% voted for Santorini which is not a new map. Back in 2015 FMPONE together with Brian “Hordeau” Pujals, Dimitri “Dimsane” Alexis, and Rick “Rf” Forge launched Santorini. Later in February 2016, Operation Wildfire officially inducted the map into the CSGO map circuit.
Upon Santorini’s release by FMPONE and Co., it did receive good feedback from the CS: GO community. Even so, it only remained a cult classic and nothing more than that. Unlike other bomb defusal maps, Santorini had bright walls and well-lit areas with vibrant blue colors to enhance its beauty. The map looked like the picturesque Greek coastal islands.
Even though it did make a buzz in the community map scenario, it never got into the competitive map pool. Later on, Santorini got scrapped when Operation Wildfire ended. But players who want to check the map out can do so by visiting the workshop maps in CS: GO.

De_Cache in CS2
In the comments of the poll by FMPONE he also mentioned that coveted CSGO map de_Cache is getting some tweaks and will be added to the CS2 map pool. He revealed that while getting used to the CS2 tools of the Source 2 engine he has learned a lot these past few years. Additionally, he emphasized on the fact that Cache will see some tweaks and better rendering when CS2 launches in the summer.
Valve, while revealing about the changes between CSGO and CS2 brought up improvements in Maps. They stated that CS2 will keep the original maps as it is but with visual improvements. Some maps will get tweaks for better balance, and some may even receive a total overhaul. Now it’s not confirmed which category de_Cache falls in but FMPONE’s conversation with CEO of Cache Danky seems promising.
Valve has a history giving its community members the freedom to create fun and sometime outrageous maps. These maps can be hit and miss but most of them create a fun experience while they stay in the map circuit. This tradition started back in in CS 1.6 and continues to this day. FMPONEs revelation about adding Santorini in CS2 will surely hype the community to try it once more.
