Did JK Rowling's comments affect Hogwarts Legacy's sales at all? Find out here!
Hogwarts Legacy has been the latest addition to one of the biggest franchises in the world. The Harry Potter Universe has been one of the biggest fandoms in the world ever since it came out. The popularity of the franchise has only continued to increase over the years as it has continued to woo children who have been introduced to the world of the boy who lived.
As the popularity of the series continued to grow, so did the spin offs and the expansion into different genres of entertainment. It started off with books, but then grew more into the business of movies.
The movies that were made continued on to be extremely popular and grew the fandom exponentially as it greatly increased accessibility and truly showed the magic that the books only wrote about in a fashion that wasn’t too far off from the texts written by JK Rowling.
The franchise further expanded into the video games industry and believe it or not, but Hogwarts Legacy isn’t the first game and released best-selling games across the world. With one of the best known ones being “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince” which was released back in 2009 with the development being done by Electronic Arts.
The world of Harry Potter has continued to expand further and further with new books coming out, and even newer game titles coming forward. And with fate, the author of the original books, JK Rowling, has been under fire for her recent comments around the trans community.
After the entire string of drama ensued, there was another announcement made in regards to a new release coming into the Harry Potter Universe – Hogwarts Legacy. There was a protest called against Hogwarts Legacy and to boycott it by not buying it at all.

Did Hogwarts Legacy take a beating from the boycott?
Not at all! To be frank, it had the opposite effect. In an attempt to call for a boycott towards the newly releasing game, petitioners brought the game more attention than it was initially going to get making it one of the most popular games of the year so far!
Talking about numbers, the game actually went on to break records around the world outselling FromSoftware’s best-selling game Elden Ring, in only the first five weeks of being released. In a LinkedIn post, a Warner Brothers associate revealed that the game had exceeded their own expectations and gone ahead to sell 256% more than expected!
