In Baldur’s Gate 3, love doesn’t have limits – it’s not about whether you’re a boy or a girl, which group you’re in, or where you’re from. There are seven companions you can try to have romantic relationships with: Astarion, Shadowheart, Gale, Lae’Zel, Wyll, Karlach, and Minthara. Before love grows, you need to make your companion like you. This includes:

  • Doing things your companion approves of.
  • Avoiding actions they dislike.
  • Assisting them in quests and goals.
  • Learning about their dreams and values to make better dialogue choices.
  • Treating NPCs positively and making thoughtful decisions.

When trying to start a romantic relationship, things start at Camp – a spot for honest talks. Additionally, every companion likes different things and needs certain stuff to like you back. Here’s a look at what you need to do to win each of them over:

  1. Astarion:
    • Find him by the Nautiloid shipwreck on the beach.
    • Build a positive opinion by being uncaring, sly, mean, manipulative, a killer, and persuasive.
    • Choose dialogue options like criticizing saving people and the refugee celebration party.
  2. Shadowheart:
    • Free her from a pod on the Mind Flayer Nautiloid.
    • Win her over by being peaceful, avoiding conflict, and opposing Lae’Zal.
    • Ask about Tieflings, Shar (whom she worships), and agree to intimacy.
  3. Lae’Zel:
    • Encountered in the prologue on the Nautiloid ship.
    • Earn her favor by being tough, aggressive, unsentimental, and unsympathetic.
    • Choose upfront dialogue options at Camp and select intimacy options.
  4. Gale:
    • Meet him at the Roadside Cliffs waypoint after the prologue.
    • Develop a positive opinion by making smart choices, showing interest in magic, knowledge, kindness, and curiosity.
    • Praise him and express your interest in intimacy during Camp conversations.
  5. Karlach:
    • Found at The Risen Road during the Hunt the Devil sidequest.
    • Build rapport by being strong and willing to free enslaved people.
  6. Minthara:
    • Encountered at the Shattered Sanctum in Act One.
    • Win her heart by helping her hunt, betraying her adversaries, and eliminating her enemies.
    • Assist her on her quest and pledge your loyalty during Camp interactions.
  7. Wyll:
    • Met during the Remove the Parasite quest in Chapter One.
    • Gain his approval by being heroic, noble, helpful, unselfish, and rejecting monsters.
    • Initiate conversations about his dislike for monsters, his glass eye, and his past to open up.
  8. Halsin:
    • Found at the Goblin’s Camp Worg Pens in Act II.
    • Show kindness to nature to build a positive opinion. More details on romancing Halsin are yet to be revealed.

In Baldur’s Gate 3, love and exploring mix together, offering players the chance to forge deep connections with their companions. Furthermore, by knowing what they like, making good decisions, and making them like you, you can open the way to romance and feel the wonderful feeling of love in a world full of magic and danger.
