Ashe is a popular hero in Overwatch 2. She is known for her versatility and ability to deal significant damage from a distance. She wields a powerful semi-automatic rifle that can take down enemies quickly. Players can use her built-in scope to increase accuracy and damage output.
As a support DPS, Ashe’s role is to provide damage and utility to her team. Her dynamite ability is an excellent tool for disrupting enemy movements. Players can use it to force enemies out of cover or keep them occupied while their team advances. However, players must be careful not to use it too close to their allies. This is because the blast can cause friendly fire and damage their teammates.

Ashe occupies a unique niche in Overwatch’s roster of heroes, operating primarily in the mid-range. Unlike long-range specialists such as Widowmaker or close-combat fighters like Genji, Ashe’s semi-automatic rifle can be used for both rapid-fire hip firing or slow, high-damage shots when using the sights. However, as a mid-range fighter, Ashe can be vulnerable to enemies that get too close.
Ashe has several abilities that can help mitigate this vulnerability. Her Coach Gun can knock back enemies or propel her to high ground. This allows her to escape or position herself as a pseudo-sniper. Additionally, Ashe’s Dynamite ability is excellent for area denial and discouraging aggressive opponents. Ashe’s Ultimate ability, B.O.B., can be used as an effective area denial tool by pushing back enemies. Her Ultimate ability deals significant damage as a powerful turret.
Ashe’s abilities in Overwatch 2

Ashe’s weapon of choice, the Viper rifle, is a powerful weapon that requires precision aiming and careful timing to be effective in Overwatch 2. Firing from the hip, the Viper has a moderate rate of fire of four shots per second, with the spread increasing after the third shot. However, aiming down sights slows the rate of fire to 1.5 shots per second but doubles the damage output and extends the range before falloff. Ashe players should use the ADS mode for medium-range targets and the hip-fire mode for close combat or finishing off low-health enemies.
Ashe’s Viper rifle is not without its weaknesses, though. Players must reload the gun individually, which takes several seconds, as it only has 12 rounds. This makes her vulnerable in close combat situations where she needs to reload frequently.
To compensate for her weakness in close combat, Ashe has other abilities that can help her. The Dynamite ability allows her to throw a bundle of dynamite that detonates after two seconds or immediately when shot. The explosion deals moderate damage to all enemies within five meters, followed by higher burn damage for the next five seconds. Ashe takes half damage from her own Dynamite explosion. The arc of the Dynamite throw always ends up in Ashe’s crosshair if she shoots immediately after throwing it, allowing her to guarantee a swift detonation if the target is within close range.
Ashe’s Coach Gun fires a powerful knockback effect that also deals some light damage. The ability has a 10-second cooldown and allows the user to push enemies away or finish off targets in close range. When fired downwards or across gaps while jumping, it can also propel Ashe into the air. This mobility tool allows Ashe to escape or take up a good sniping position.
Ashe’s Ultimate Ability is B.O.B., her omnic butler. When activated, B.O.B. charges forward until he hits a wall, an enemy Hero, or travels 65 meters. If he hits a Hero or Heroes, he deals significant damage and throws them up into the air, making them easy targets for Ashe. B.O.B. then opens fire with his machine guns at the closest enemy Heroes, functioning like Torbjörn’s Turret. B.O.B. remains in turret mode for 10 seconds, during which time he counts as a player Hero for buffs, healing, and objectives. He can be killed by concentrated fire or debuffed by enemy Heroes like Sombra. B.O.B. can be an effective tool in helping Ashe’s team take objectives quickly by functioning as a deadly turret and an additional Hero in the capture zone.
