Ever wanted to play Minecraft with your friends but you own your copy of Minecraft on PS4? Fret not! There is a way for you to play on an online server with your friends, even if you own Sony’s console.

Believe it or not it is actually possible for you to play Minecraft with your friends on PS4. There are only a few things that you will need and you will be set to take on the adventures of Minecraft alongside your friends.

Be it exploring the Nether, beating the Ender Dragon, trying to beat the Warden, or inevitable failing at making a peaceful survival world where you could all live in harmony and live out your digital lives in peace farming and exploring the land, playing with friends is a quality of life upgrade in Minecraft which was announced back in 2009 and was officially added to the game and released to the public in 2010.

With the release of multiplayer on PC, the update soon followed suit to other platforms, i.e. PlayStation, and Xbox at the time. The updates brought the functionality of you being able to play with friends on online servers, or join pre-existing communities where you could find new people to play with.

With that, it was now established that people could play Minecraft online with their friends now. People on PC only needed to have a valid copy of the game to their name and would be able to play online easily.

For people playing on consoles however, it would be a little cheekier. There were certain restrictions in place for the people who owned consoles and wanted to play the popular sandbox game with company.

How to play Minecraft online on PS4

It isn’t as easy for PS4 players to play with their buddies online as it is for people who are a part of the PC world. PS4 players not only need a legitimate copy of Minecraft, but also need a PS Plus membership to be able to go online.

In order to start a new online world in the game to share with your friends, you can simply select “multiplayer” on the home screen, select “Online”, and you shall be transported to a new world where you can invite your friends to play with you. Just press the Touchpad and press the square button to invite them.

In case you want to join a pre-existing game, you can press the touchpad and then the triangle button to check for any invites that you may have gotten until now. Once there, you can accept the invite and join the game where you have been invited.
