With the holiday season approaching, players are getting into the Christmas spirit. Game developers participate in the festivities by introducing holiday events, Christmas specials, and offers and discounts. Mojang Studios has done the same thing in Minecraft with their Minecraft Christmas Chest.
The Christmas-themed change kicked into the game on December 24th, before Christmas Eve. It will last until the day after Christmas, that is, December 26th.
Note that this feature is exclusive to the Java edition of the game. Thus, it will not show up on the console versions, mobile versions, or Bedrock edition on PC.
The texture files are already in the game, and you will not be asked to install any new updates. It will be activated in your game during the given time zone. Interestingly, Mojang does not manually add and remove these changes during the given time. Hence, there is a particular trick you can perform to get the Minecraft Christmas Chest throughout the year.
You can go to your device’s settings and set the clock to December 24th and 26th. This alteration tricks the device into thinking it is Christmas time and will activate the Minecraft Christmas Chest feature in the game anytime you wish.
Everything you need to know about the Minecraft Christmas Chest
Two types of Minecraft Special Chests are added to the game, in correspondence with the single chest and double chest in Minecraft. Note that these changes are only applicable to chests. They will not be applied to storage boxes like Ender Chests, Barrels, and Shulker Boxes.
The singular, smaller chests are adorned in red wrapping paper. They are completed with a yellow ribbon and feature a subtle Christmas tree design on the lower half of the design.
In contrast, the larger Minecraft Christmas chests are wrapped in olive-green paper, complete with white ribbons and a red bow. The bottom half showcases a Christmas tree design.
It is important to note that this feature does not make any functional changes to the game. Your chests will not have increased storage space or Christmas-themed goodies in them. The changes are merely cosmetic and intended to make a fun change to the game during the holidays.
