Redd offers a variety of paintings for sale in Animal Crossing, but players must be wary of forged paintings that he may try to sell them. Players should note the differences between the authentic and fake versions of each painting to avoid being scammed.

For instance, the fake Academic Painting has a coffee stain on the right corner, whereas the genuine one is flawless. In the fake Amazing Painting, the person in the middle doesn’t wear a large black hat like in the original. The fake Basic Painting has the subject’s forehead entirely covered in hair, with no baldness. However, players can safely purchase Calm Painting as it has no forgeries.

The fake version of Famous Painting has exaggerated eyebrows pointing upward compared to the authentic one, which has a more natural look. The fake Graceful Painting features a woman larger than normal, filling the entire canvas, and missing a white tag on her hair. A second possible forgery of this painting is mirrored, with the subject facing the left.

The real Jolly Painting has an extra plant stem protruding from the straw bag on its right, which is missing in the fake version. Meanwhile, the fake Quaint Painting has excessive water pouring out of the jug compared to the original’s thin stream. The fake Scary Painting has reversed eyebrows, making the subject appear confused rather than angry, and another fake has him smiling.

The fake Sinking Painting has the man near the far back door touching the wall instead of pointing at it like in the original. In contrast, the fake Wild Painting’s Left Half has the color of the demon as green instead of white. The fake Right Half has the demon colored white instead of green.

Finally, the fake Wistful Painting is available in two versions. One of the versions has the subject’s eyes closed. Meanwhile, the other version has her wearing earring star-shaped instead of circular, unlike the real one.

However, the game has no forgeries of a lot of paintings. These are:

  • Common Painting
  • Glowing Painting
  • Moody Painting
  • Moving Painting
  • Mysterious Painting
  • Nice Painting
  • Perfect Painting
  • Proper Painting
  • Twinkling Painting
  • Warm Painting
  • Worthy Painting

Although it might be difficult to differentiate between Jolly Red’s real and fake art, things get easier if players know what differences to look out for.
