Animal Crossing: New Horizon – How to collect star fragments
Guide to actively collecting star fragments in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Collecting star fragments is a key aspect of gameplay in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. These shiny and colorful fragments fall from the sky after a meteor shower and can be used to craft various items, including wands and decorations. Here’s how players can actively collect star fragments and maximize their chances of obtaining them:
To craft items with star fragments, players need to obtain the necessary crafting materials and have unlocked the recipe. Some of the items that players can craft with star fragments include the Star Wand, the Wand DIY set, and the Star Clock. To craft these items, players will need different amounts of star fragments along with other materials such as wood or iron nuggets. To craft the Star Wand, players will need one large star fragment and three regular star fragments. Once players have these materials, they can access the crafting menu by pressing the “ZL” button on their Nintendo Switch controller. From there, they can select the Star Wand recipe and craft the item.

How to collect star fragments in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The primary way to collect star fragments is by wishing on a shooting star. Shooting stars are always present; however, Meteor Showers increase the chances of getting more shooting stars, thus increasing the number of Star Fragments players can collect. The concept of shooting stars and meteor showers is first introduced to players by an NPC named Celeste. She visits the player’s island after 7 PM and, when interacted with, will inform you about the frequency of shooting stars. The daily limit for stars on one’s island is 20. However, it can be increased if visitors have wished for a shooting star.
Wishing on Shooting Stars

Shooting stars appear randomly on clear nights so players must keep an eye out for it. These shooting stars always come in pairs, so if you miss the first one, you can wish on the second star. However, players can only wish on one of the two shooting stars at a time. For you to be able to wish on a shooting star, there are a few things you must follow to receive a star fragment, and those are:
- Make sure that your hands are empty and not holding anything. You must also be standing when making a wish.
- Adjust the camera so that the night sky with the shooting star can be seen
- Once you have done both, press the ‘A’ button on your Nintendo when you see a shooting star, and you will notice the star twinkling to confirm your wish.
Collecting Star Fragments

Wishing on shooting stars does not grant you star fragments immediately. Once you have wished, the star fragments can be collected the next day. These star fragments will wash up on the shores of your island. If you have made multiple wishes, the stars will gradually wash up on the shores. Go around your island to collect these star fragments and they will be added to your inventory.
Collecting star fragments in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a fun and rewarding experience for players. They should look out for meteor showers, make wishes on shooting stars, and invite friends to their island. They can maximize their chances of obtaining these valuable fragments. So, players should keep an eye out for meteor showers and get ready to make some wishes.
