Apex Legends’ latest Eclipse launch trailer reveals Catalyst’s Abilities

Catalyst is going to be the latest addition to the Apex Legends squad. Earlier in her back story, it was found that she was a defensive type legend and has the ability to manipulate Ferrofluid. There were earlier leaks about her abilities which said she could create structures and walls and they are seemingly true.

Apex released the eclipse launch trailer which featured catalyst showing off some of her skills. The trailer also shows Catalyst using her abilities. Here is what we know about her terraforming capabilities.

Catalyst's abilities:

Passive – Reinforce: She can repair / strengthen structures

Tactical – Resin Shot: Fire an orb of ferrofluid, causing enemies that step in it to become slowed or stuck

Catalyst’s abilities are based on her superpower to use ferrofluids. As seen in the trailer Seer’s scan took an L against the magnificent wall of ferrofluid. She doesn’t have any ability to enhance her movements which is a must in Apex. Her passive ability is a lot similar to Ash’s snare. Let us see how useful Catalyst’s abilities are in-game.

Catalyst’s Abilities as per the Apex Legends Eclipse Trailer

Passive skill – Her passive skill is ‘Reinforce’ with this ability she can repair or strengthen structures. In the trailer, she is seen using this ability to save some soldiers from falling debris. With this ability, she can fix and strengthen doors and other items as well. These items will now be able to withstand some more damage.

Tactical skill – Her tactical ability is Resin Shot, she fires an orb of ferrofluid which sticks to the ground and to the enemy that spets on it, slowing them down. This ability is very similar to Ash’s Snare. Her orb might be able to stop the enemy from moving for a few seconds as well.

Ultimate Skill – Her ultimate is Ferro Wall, she casts a wall of ferrofluid that blocks vision and slows the enemy that tries to push through it. This wall can also block scans and other abilities as well.

We can not say for certain that these will definitely be the abilities that Catalyst comes with as there is still time for the 15th season and her abilities might undergo some changes. The 15th season and the first transgender legend Catalyst are confirmed to release on 1 November 2022.
