Are you eligible for a Fortnite refund from Epic Games following the latest ruling by FTC?
After the recent actions taken by FTC against Epic Games, FTC is using the settlement money to refund Fortnite players. The FTC claims that Epic games charged parents and gamers of all ages for unnecessary merchandise and locked the accounts of customers who contested erroneous payments with their credit card companies.
FTC fined Epic Games $520 million for violating COPPA and using “dark patterns” for duping Fortnite players. From this total, $245 million was to refund players who were affected by Epic Games’ billing and refund practices. The remaining $275 million was a financial fine for allegedly breaking the COPPA requirement by gathering personal information about children under 13 without informing or getting their parents’ verifiable consent.
