The recent online harassment and threat cases faced by content creators has prompted Zack ‘Asmongold’ to provide his take on the issue. The OTK content creator dropped a video on YouTube explaining how he deals with persistent online harassment.
While the video alludes to his fellow content creators, people facing similar situations can also take advice from him. Due to this, he stated that his video would be useful in the long run. Explaining further, the Twitch streamer opined that most content creators believe that if they create content, they are bound to be harassed. This should not be the case, according to Asmon.
He later pointed out how to figure if people are indeed getting harassed or not. Asmongold claimed that if someone is disagreeing with you, that doesn’t pertain to harassment. However, if someone makes an insult on your personal attributes, that can certainly be termed as harassment.
Continuing the discussion, the OTK co-owner explained how he deals with such incidents. “I stopped caring, I stopped even taking it seriously in any capacity,” he added that if people are making fun of your natural appearance, you should take that criticism and throw it in the garbage.
At the latter part of his YouTube, Asmongold advised his fellow content creators that they should be comfortable with their own views. Instead of trying to impress others, the streamer stated that people should be themselves. Concluding this discussion, he advised that people should not apologize for sh*t that they’re not sorry for and do what they believe will make them happy.
Asmongold’s advice comes after recent streamer harassments
Online harassment against content creators is not an unusual thing. In fact, the community has witnessed multiple renowned personalities getting baseless criticism. Even streamers like Valkyrae, Pokimane were compelled to deal with such trolls.
However, the verbal and mental torture has increased lately on Twitch. This comes after the launch of Hogwarts Legacy, an action-adventure game based on the iconic Harry Potter franchise.
As the game is associated with J.K. Rowling, several trans-person activists are harassing streamers who are playing the game. The situation has taken an ugly turn as a Twitch VTuber opened up on getting death threats from some of her viewers for playing a video game.
Asmongold has been a constant critic of people engaging in such cases. He has also been streaming the game on a regular basis. While he has previously advised on how to deal with hatred, he decided to provide a thorough explanation.
Fan reactions
Most of his fans are appreciating his move to come out and support people who are getting harassed. They also note that this video or advice is not restricted to content creators and has a deeper value.
Asmongold has also mentioned on his tweet multiple times about how people should deal with toxicity on internet. Hopefully with this video, fans can understand the case better.
