Game of the Year (GotY) has slowly become a tradition for studios to release games that not just captivate the player base but even bag the appreciation of all media outlets out there. Furthermore, The Game Awards, one of the most prominent hosts of The Game of the Year awards is about to unveil the event pretty soon. Last year’s GOTY winner was Elden Ring and the game performed really well amongst the fan base!

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Despite being exclusive to the Nintendo Switch console, The Legend of Zelda series is one of the most popular RPGs to date. Furthermore, the amount of freedom players have in this game is one of its major selling points. And Tears of the Kingdom, the third installment of the series, expanded a lot on the story of the game in accordance with the mechanics. From building almost anything to an action-packed campaign, the game has it all.
The open-world action-adventure gameplay found in Breath of the Wild (2017) is carried over into Tears of the Kingdom. You can move about Marvel’s New York by swinging, jumping, and using the new Web Wings. Players can swiftly switch between Miles Morales and Peter Parker to discover other narratives and amazing new abilities.
Fans love everything that the game has to offer. With an enriching campaign story and multiple playable character presence, the game has laid down its strong foundations! The game is a really strong contender for bagging the Game of the Year 2023 award, although if it doesn’t get bested by another great game that came out this year!
Baldur’s Gate 3
Larian Studios have struck gold with Baldur’s Gate 3. This game was amongst the few most-awaited games of this year, and it definitely deserved all the hype it got! Additionally, it is based on the Dungeons & Dragons board game style. Moreover, players can play this game solo or even with friends! To explore the game’s plot, players can create one or more characters and assemble a party with computer-generated individuals.
Its charm and hype have shot up Baldur’s Gate 3’s popularity! Furthermore, the campaign, along with many NPC interactions, brings quite a realistic social feel to the game. Thus, considering the huge fan base Baldur’s Gate 3 has and the hype this game created, Baldur’s Gate 3 is the strongest contender in the run for the Game of the Year 2023 award and may even win it!
Although the nominees have yet to come out, and games like Alan Wake 2 have been released quite recently, too, there’s still a lot of debate going around over the potential game to win the award. However, as of right now, gamers are totally banking on Baldur’s Gate 3 to sweep away many awards during the award show!
