Why did the former Fnatic India head slam BGMI publisher Krafton?
Fnatic is a professional eSports organization with its headquarters being established in London, United Kingdom. One of the leading organization in the eSports scenario, it fields rosters in several games such as Apex Legends, CS:GO, Dota 2, FIFA, Rainbow Six Siege and other games.
The organization entered India by signing off the PUBG Mobile Team Xspark featuring star players such as Tanmay “Scout” Singh and others along with selecting Nimish Raut as the regional head. However, the roster was disbanded when PUBG Mobile was banned in India in the wake of India-China border crisis and the game possessing a threat to India’s security.
Nimish Raut, who was earlier responsible for conducting the management of Fnatic came into the limelight when he, in an outburst slammed BGMI developer Krafton on their recent acquisition of Loco as their streaming partner. Nimish Raut in his Instagram story mentioned-
"Is this good or bad for eSports?, where is the share of media rights for the teams who put on the show?, if this is done at a cost, then it's only fair that it's shared, and if it is done for free then how it is good for ecosystem"?
He also tagged the prominent eSports personalities and organizations of India such as Abhijeet “Ghatak” Andhare, Skyesports Gaming, Global Esports and others to highlight the situation. The fact that Krafton owns a large stake at this streaming platform named Loco which was made its streaming partner has made fans skeptical as other streaming platforms and tournament organizers would not have a share, as pointed out by the former Fnatic regional head.
Fans are also confused whether the upcoming BGMI tournaments will be streamed on Loco or YouTube. Several fans have also commented on Krafton’s post that they are not much comfortable with watching streams on Loco, therefore, things are left hanging on a loose thread.
