BGMI ban: Ghatak talks about a big day for eSports
Battlegrounds Mobile India has seen several tournaments since its launch with massive prize pools. It also witnessed the first ever tournament by NODWIN Gaming that was broadcasted on television. With its accentuating popularity, the game has been able to create a blooming eSports ecosystem in the country.
However, the BGMI ban has led many to believe that a well established ecosystem of the eSports industry would cripple down just like what happened during the ban of PUBG Mobile. Several eSports professionals such as Naman ‘Mortal’ Mathur have also expressed their concern regarding the losses of several people due to the abrupt action taken by the government.
Ghatak, one of the most prominent eSports professionals who is also a coach for GodLike Esports in his tweet stated that this might not be a permanent ban and that he is hoping for the best to happen. Hinting on a court case, Ghatak tweeted-
"It is a big day tomorrow esports is growing day by day on a global as well as national level. I hope our government can recognise this and take a good decision. We don’t want to be behind other countries and also any issues can be solved. *Banning the game is not a solution*"
Apart from Ghatak, the founder of Skyesports, a leading eSports organization India, Shiva Nandy, took to his social media to state that something big is going to happen but he abstained from revealing any further details. He also assured the fans of doing something so that the ban could be lifted considering that Skyesports has an upcoming LAN event of BGMI ahead.
Apart from the third party organizations, the developers of the game were also supposed to start the registrations for BGIS 2022 on 28th July but the portals didn’t open due to the BGMI ban. A proper official statement was also not given by Krafton as they only stated that they are looking into the matter.
